lavender bag

With all the lavender
I was able to harvest,
I started working on some bags
for our clothes.

This little square is full of lavender,
protecting my dress
and smelling just so good!

Here is my technique:
first start with 4 squares, 3.5 x 3.5

sew a linen to a paisley, (twice)
with a 1/4 inch seam allowance

then stitch these 2 rectangles to one another
to make a 4-patch

press and iron everything flat.
Fold the square in half
and stitch the sides

Pinch the middle together
and pin matching the center.

Leave an opening, stitch across.
I always use 2 pins together to remind me to stop/start there.

Clip corners and turn right side out.

Press, insert lavender
and slip stitch the opening.

I used 2 strands of "coton perle" to make a loop.

and voila!

Here is another version,
with some appliques on the linen,
made by my Maman,
she used silk ribbon for the loop.

And here is more interesting version
with 3 connected squares
also made by my Maman.

The first 2 squares do not have the 4 patch.
The blue linen has some embroideries,
the other square is made of Liberty of London fabric.

The 4 patch square has also some embroideries
and a tassel.

The squares are stitched together at the corners
and 2 identical buttons are stitched over it,
making it beautiful on both sides.

Happy sewing!
