a lovely pouch with ruffle

Since it has been cold and snowy lately,
I have been interested in playing
with summery feel fabrics,
like this blue fabric from Provence,
I made this lovely ruffled pouch for a friend.

I added some products from L'Occitane to complement the Provence experience,
I am a big fan, so it will be a fun addition for my GF.

I followed this tutorial from Angel Melie,
quite easy. The addition of the ruffle did not complicate the sewing.
It just added a couple steps.

I choose another turquoise print for the lining,
a script with pink and green butterflies,
perfect for dreaming of warmer weather,

or even better travel!

Happy sewing!

Honey spice bread

This winter is really stretching
and I am truly longing for some childhood taste,
so I made some honey spice bread.

It is slightly different from the one I used to eat,
but it is delicious, with lost of honey and spices.

I followed this recipe from Chic, Chic, Chocolat.
It is in French, so here are the ingredients:
180 g of honey
100 g of butter
150 ml of orange juice
250 g of AP flour
100 g of sugar
1 tsp of baking soda
1-2 tsp of total spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clover...
(I avoid measuring cup, too inaccurate for me!)

Grease/spray a baking loaf pan.

Heat up honey, orange juice and butter to melt it.
Mix flour, sugar, baking soda and spices.
Once the liquid has cooled down,
add it the solid. Mix.

bake at 350 for ~35 min.

Enjoy cool or even better the next day,
but it is hard. Waiting is my least favorite activity!

It is perfect with tea or coffee,
breakfast or snack!

Happy day!

cozying up the master bedroom: winter décor

It has been such a cold and dreary January so far,
I felt the need to cozy up our bedroom.

I used some of our Christmas décor in the bedroom,
and made 4 mini quilts out of 2 panels of print from Zen Chic (chill collection):

I just cut the 4 prints (many left), layered on batting and leftover fabric
for the back, and bound them in gold and black.

I just removed the triptych I made last year with
Van Goh's Almond Blossom

and removed a lot of blue accents,
at least temporary,
like the lampshade and the vase,
but got a new blue and white comforter:

I added more cream and white, with white and linen pillow cases
and a velvet snow flak pillow.
It feels very cozy and relaxing.

Of course the best part is Bosco still goes with the décor!
He seems quite pleased with the new duvet cover:

Happy day!

a play diaper bag with all the necessities

For my niece E's birthday,
I sewed her a diaper bag with all the necessities:
diapers, bib, diaper pad, wipes and toy!

Just like I did for my niece K when she was a toddler,
a while ago as she is 10 this year!

I followed my own tutorial from Paris bag to make the bag,
using only happy, pretty fabric:

Then I played with more pretty fabric,
and sewed a diaper pad
and wipes of course.

The wipe container is fleece and the wipes are flannel.
(Here for my previous pad and wipes)

No diaper bag would be complete with multiple diapers,
with adjustable Velcro,
perfect for various doll sizes,

a bib and a little toy with many tags!

And it all fits very nicely in the bag,
perfect for any doll lover!

Happy sewing!

Happy New Year

I wish you all
Happy New Year!

My mom sent me this lovely embroidery for the new year,
from this agenda book:

I have it too,
and I am planning more embroidery
for this new year.

Bonne année 2021!
