the farm quilt: the beginning

I started a new quilt, a farm quilt:

for my niece E.

Last time I made her a quilt,

it was before her birth in 2017:

While she is little (just 16 months old), she "needs" a bigger girl quilt!

I remembered making a Noah's ark quilt for Brick Master

at that same age (who is now 18!) so a few year ago ;)

Well this quilt will be quite different as it is a farm quilt,

so no wild animal, but still some animals!

And some buildings because the people need to live somewhere:

like those cute children!

I love adding people/things in the windows,

like in the barn;

2 dogs and a little mouse!

The patterns for most of the blocks will come from "Farm Girl Vintage"

from Lori Holt of Bee In my Bonnet.

I received that book a couple of years ago

and only made one block:

I am quickly catching up quickly,

and I am planning on making the quilt 5 by 7,

(5 blocks per row, 7 rows)

so I need to make 35 blocks.

They are all 6 inches x 6 inches, perfect size.

There will be 1 inch sash between all the blocks,

which is why I already sewed one band  on the left side of each block.

And because it is an American quilt,

it needs a mini American flag:

I am making blocks without real order,

just making the ones that I like,

just like this milk can.

I am trying to make everything very scrapy,

and it is quite a challenge for me!

I am also adding some blocks that are not in the book,

like this cake stand,

the pattern is also from Lori,

and can be found on her blog.

My cake is birthday cake flavor,

which is cute and tasty (at least according to kids)

but the dots are so far apart,

it does not look at good at the base of the cake...

Five down,

thirty more to go!

my own dandelion, and 8th blogging anniversary!

It is official, I have my own Dandelion: And she is perfect, even if a little pale....

Previously I made more traditional doe in various shades of brown:

I shared these 2 dandelions last December, here.

but this time I tried lighter color, I might even go crazy and go with a pastel color next time....

I also made one for Miss C., you probably saw her during Christmas:

as she posed perfectly under the tree. This doe also wears a Liberty of London dress, with a nice cotton lace, and as usual embroidered boots.
Miss Dandelion supervises my sewing table:

dressed in a fine Liberty of London dress, with embroidered felt boots, and even an poorly knitted scarf!
She is good company, never mentions the mess or the pile of unfinished projects.....
Today is also the anniversary of this little blog: 8 years later, I am still having fun!

all the bebe cuteness together

Very late last year, we welcomed the birth of my niece:

Baby E (1 week old) on her quilt!

I might be partial but she is so cute ;)

Last fall I sewed for her a lot of cute little things,

beside the quilt.

My sister took a few pictures of her room just before her arrival,

and it looks perfect all together:

I will not meet Baby E until this summer,

but I receive a new picture everyday:

Until then, I can always create more cute things for her....

the new and lovely Dandelions are here....

Last year, just before Christmas, I shared my unclothed Dandelions, well all of them have found their new owner, fully clothed.
Today I am sharing the first two:

this one dressed in a red Liberty of London dress with a delicate French cotton lace

 and pink embroidered red felt boots;

and 

this one wears a simpler Liberty of London dress

and blue embroidered flowers on royal blue boots.

Just like in the previous year,

the deer are made of felt,

following this pattern from Posie.

They are super sweet,

I love making them, using many Liberty of London prints.

I am so happy I made one for myself,

which I will share soon!

my little Dandelions are coming along

My new set of Dandelion doe(s) is really coming along, I have now 4 new friends

who will be leaving me shortly.... well one is staying with me, but to keep everything a secret as much as possible, I will not say with one!
They are still missing their little black nose, but I have already sewn their little Liberty of London dresses.

Some have laces (heirloom or regular), some are more simple, and of course there are the boots. I still have 2 more pairs to make, I love adding the embroidery details on the side of the boots and of course matching them to the dresses.

Aren't they so cute with their little Liberty of London ears?
Next time you see them, they will be all dressed up, but only after Christmas.
